Where these words come from

The Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the Daily Prayers, and the Baptism, Confession, and Communion passages come from a 1921 English translation of Luther's Small Catechism. It is in the public domain, so anyone may use it. The Luther's Life passages are short summaries written for this site, not quotes.

Churches use several English translations today. If yours uses a different one, learn that wording instead. You can also read the Small Catechism at Digital Lutheran Church.
